The Ambassador welcomed participants of the Humboldt Kolleg 2017
Enlarge image (© Ranansamanya Photography) Mr. von Ungern-Sternberg, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Jakarta, was giving a speech during the opening of the third Humboldt Kolleg in Indonesia to welcome all participants and to underline the importance of academic and vocational education for social development in ASEAN countries.
In North-Jakarta 150 scientists from Germany and ASEAN countries discussed topics of urbanisation from July 24th to 26th 2017. The event for interdisciplinary exchange between scientists was organised by Humboldt Alumni and themed "The Rise of ASEAN and Strategic Partnership in Understanding the Complexity and Collective Phenomena in Emergent Societies". The conference was supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the Indonesian Ministry of Science RISTEKDIKTI and the University Pembangunan Jaya. Dr. Manderla, Head of Asia Devision of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, traveled from Germany to Jakarta in order to attend the programme.
Dr. Leenawaty Limantara, organiser of the conference and representative of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Indonesia, used the opportunity of the closing event to establish the science consortium "ASEAN Network for Urban Research". The participants welcomed this initiative enthusiastically.
