On 26 September 2011, the Federal Republic of Germany issued the exequatur for Mr. Peter Badge as the first Honorary Consul of Timor-Leste for Germany.

Germany and Timor-Leste

Relations between Timor-Leste and Germany are very cordial. Since the UN Transitional Administration of 1999, East Timor has received extensive assistance from Germany for nation-building. After achieving national independence on 20 May 2002, East Timor was recognized by Germany under international law and diplomatic relations were established.
